History
The Garrote Wire has had a mostly quiet career in the cultural zeitgeist of Endless War.
It prominently featured in the post-stock exchange era of season 1 used as a tool to topple tyranny, those who gained inordinate amount of slime (amounts that reached into the quadrillions) feared the glint of the wire as it could kill them instantly if the wind blew in the right direction, as it so often did.
Before being nerfed the Garrote had a 1 in 100 chance of a critical strike and unlike normal weapons a critical strike with the garrote meant instant death for the opponent, no matter how large their slime was. Killing someone this way was fairly though hard thanks to PVP flags guarenteeing immunity if they manage to survive long enough and the fairly lengthy gap between reviving, mining and enlisting again.
In response to this people organized into what was aptly dubbed "Garrote Squads" which was essentially lobbing as many Garrote attacks as possible in the time span it took the flag to run out to greatly increase the chance of a critical attack. This technique was so effective that it caused the Garrote to get nerfed before season 1 was even over.
It did however claim multiple of the highest slime players before it inevitably kicked the bucket though leading to a turbulent shifting of powers from the Killers to Rowdies when Krak was Garrote Squaded and then from the Rowdies back to the Killers when Kanman was squaded.
